Into the list

A few months back we pulled ideas from a stinky hat and laid out future studies. We just finished the first one on that list, Mere Christianity. To take a break in between, we'll be playing poker this Tuesday at Barry's house. If you don't know how to get there, call around. We'll be starting a little early (7pm) and you need to bring your own beverages and snacks. We may get some pizza or something, so bring a few bucks for that if you want to pitch in.

The week after that we'll be starting I Timothy chapter 3. This should only last a few weeks, so don't miss a week or you'll miss a good chunk of the discussion. And please..... read it before you come. Geez.

Peace.

Bye, Bye, September

For those who stop by to know what to read (all one of you), tonight's reading is book 4, chapters 8 & 9. Next week is the last two chapters of book 4 which will finish the whole book. Looking forward to what Mr. Lewis has in his brain these last two nights.

Peace.

C.S. Lewis, your wisdom is intriguing

Reading Mere Christianity has brought up some interesting discussion, to be sure. As we wind down the book, I would suggest all of you continue to read Lewis' words and apply them to your life. Don't let your disagreements with him prevent you from gaining his overall wisdom; skip the stuff you don't like and search out the stuff you do.

We'll be done with the book by October and moving on. I'd like to plan some sort of a meal in the fall, so keep that in your thoughts and bring your ideas. See ya tomorrow.

Peace.

August and everything after

Anyone remember that Counting Crows album? One of my favorites.

Anyway, I'm signing in to update the August calendar and to let everyone know of a family function coming up... the annual Perseid meteor shower. The peak night is Tuesday the 11th into Wednesday the 12th, so that falls right in line with BOB. We (Sam & Laura) are planning on doing a bonfire and cookout which will be a great time to bring the family. Even though it falls in the middle of the week, all are welcome to spend the night if you want to.

This might also be a good opportunity to invite a friend or two to BOB. You know... let them in gently and without any pressure. I have a guy I've been wanting to invite so I think I'll let him know. Any of you know someone you'd like to invite? No pressure, just a thought.

Take me out to the ballgame...

For those who missed Tuesday's group, I wanted to let you know we'll be going to a Scrappers game next Tuesday, July 14th. It will be a $2 Tuesday game so the tickets, dogs, nachos, and beer will all be $2 each. This is a family event, so be sure and bring your lady friend and the children's.

If you want to organize a car pool, call around and see who you can ride with. As of now there are no plans in place for that.

Also, please remember that Mike's art show opening is Wednesday the 15th at Jupiter Studios in Alliance. If you need directions call myself (Sam) or Mike. See you all Tuesday.

Some plans are afoot

The, "see what happens" plan did as it usually does.............. scattered to the wind. It was good (and often fun) but not always productive. So, last night we threw out some ideas for future discussion and decided to put them into a hat and have our resident prophet pick them out to choose the order we would tackle each of them. The following is the list...

1) Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
2) I Timothy 3 with a slight bend on the, "eldership" teachings
3) Romans 14
4) Mark Driscoll videos
5) The Reason for God by ?

So grab a copy of Mere Christianity and we'll dig into that starting next week at the DVI. See you then.

Peace.
